Secret Project Robot Art Experiment is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this summer with three months of stacked shows from the SPR family and an ongoing art retrospective from SPR’s history. An all-ages performance and studio space and cultural incubator, Secret Project Robot has nurtured an arts community that prioritizes the experimental, collaborative, multi-disciplinary, colorful, queer, psychedelic, and genuinely fun.
Which is why we’re extremely excited to announce that we will be returning once again to hold out our annual summer festival at the venue on August 8. Some of you may recall the Normcore of Summer Festivals we threw last year with our pals at Exploding in Sound.
Art and music featured during Secret Project Robot’s celebration will all be based in deep SPR lore, throughout its evolution from the Mighty Robot loft in Williamsburg to Monster Island basement on Kent Ave to its current Bushwick incarnation as Secret Project Robot, benevolently overseen by Rachel Nelson and Erik Z.
Details for the Impose date will be revealed in the coming weeks. Shows already confirmed include an Audio Visual Salon from video artists such as Ginny Benson, Bradley Eros, and Erik Z; a Bushwick Open Studios day party; a full day dedicated to Zach Lehrhoff and friends featuring Dubknowdub, Ex Models, Knyfe Hits, and Beech Creeps; Queens of Bushwig after-parade Pride Tea Dance; and a Quintron & Miss Pussycat show with Eartheater, Haribo, Bottoms, and Fluct. Ample opportunities to chill in the yard, eat BBQ, and enjoy art music and vibes with some true freaks.
