Shy Layers has been hard at work bringing us his signature layered, highly-instrumental take on soft pop/rock. If you’re not familiar, we’ve got the breezy track “Too Far Out” as a breezy, fun example.
This time, he’s chosen a different approach by making us a Friday Night Mix packed with some of his favs.
Here’s a collection of songs that I love. Many of these have influenced the Shy Layers sound, even if indirectly. From the melancholy rhythms of De Frank Professionals, the excellent guitar treatments in the Talking Heads “Mind”, Paul Simon’s underrated “Hearts and Bones” album, the incredible chorus of “How Will I Know”, the sublime, percussive Fabiano do Nascimento, all the way to Dr. John sounding as if he’s about to die. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do.
