Chicago raised, but making a name out in L.A., TiRon might be enjoying the fresh coast weather, but he can't escape his Chitown roots.
It's feeling safe to assume Kanye is in some no-turning-back territory of rapper narcissism. Are people really feeling “Power”? I'm ready to look to the unsigned streets for the next cat with some honesty to put on wax. TiRon's latest mixtape MSTRD might be that tape. Barely, a mixtape, since its a short endeavor and lacks DJ drops and recycled beats, MSTRD is pure heaters. The tape (which is MUSTARD to complement his KETCHUP tape in '09) features production from MF Doom, Oddisee and Paul McCartney & Wings – not really, he samples the first stanza of “Band On The Run”.
There are hints of Kanye influence in TiRon's inflections, although it could be less of a style biting and more of a shared hometown accent. It's tough to discern. TiRon is making all the right early moves. He toys with several styles on MSTRD, writing clever relationship complications and following it up with a song about addiction far more closer to home and honest than Kanye could ever attempt to pen.
