Great Wall Chinese Restaurant (Oakland, CA)
Lunch is the most important meal of the day and we've eaten it here so many times. They have a delicious, cheap lunch special everyday which is far too much food for one person to sensibly eat. The free soup initially tastes like wet pennies but eventually you will grow to love it. The service here is so quick, it's astonishing, it's as though they know what you are going to order before you do. You will need to take a nap after eating here.
Morningstar Grillers Veggie Burgers
We grill a lot in our backyard when the weather is good. This is not only the best veggie patty for outdoor grilling, it's basically the only one that doesn't turn into a solid, rock textured throwing star when hit with charcoal heat. Pour a little beer on it while it's cooking and you're good to go. There's a 1/4lb version for the fatties, too!
Peep Show
This British comedy show is hilarious and dangerous. If you watch too much of it it'll rewire your brain and you'll end up being all too aware of your own, troubled inner voice. We have cancelled rehearsals to watch this show in the past.
Sid Meier's Pirates!
This game is great because you can play it in many different ways and kinda choose your level of involvement with it. You can fight other pirates, travel from town to town trading spices, invade cities, sword fight, search for buried treasure or just sail around and listen to the sound of the ocean and computer seagulls. This is a great time wasting alternative to the internet.
Model Rockets
We got into building model rockets a couple of summers ago. It takes a long time to build one and then you shoot it into the sky and hope it doesn't get lost. It's kind of a metaphor for making an album…
Sorry
This board game is aptly named. Everybody who plays this is soon sorry that they started. We've spent quite a few evenings playing this game and it always ends in absolute frustration and anger. It's still super fun, somehow. The best thing about Sorry is how quickly triumph can turn to defeat, Just like real life.
Longmont Potion Castle
This guy is the master of the prank phone call. He has a super janky sounding effects unit that he uses on his voice to really mess with people. There's a ton of his stuff on youtube and it's pretty much all hilarious except for a prank he plays on a young kid who is eager to purchase a Super Nintendo. That one is kind of mean and sad.
The Bats
The Bats are a big influence on our band. They are about to tour the U.S.A. for the first time in years and we're lucky enough to get to open up for them at their San Francisco show. If they come to your town you should definitely go see them.
