Gazy dream-pop act drops another brilliant cut from upcoming LP
No stranger to the pages of Impose, dream-poppers Cathedral Bells have been steadily gracing us with their shoegaze stylings since late 2018. With their long-awaited and highly-anticipated debut LP Velvet Spirit officially on the horizon, Matt Messore is back again with another brilliant cut, “In Absentia.”
“This song is a metaphor for the destructive tendencies human beings have in their relationships,” Messore explains. “It speaks about wanting to be open to life and other people but also feeling a need to shut off from everyone completely. ‘Cause I want it all / To crash into the wall’ sometimes we want everything from someone, but then it ends up breaking us down and haunting us.”
Listen to Cathedral Bells’ “In Absentia” below and look for Velvet Spirit out March 6th via Good Eye Records. NYC fans can catch the band live tonight at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn.
