Us – Brother Ali

Post Author:

In this day and age anyone with a pulse
and an expandable set of lungs has spent a few moments expressing their
private sentiments regarding the economy, healthcare, racism, foreign
policy, etc. We all have
had our moments to speak out and attempt to right the endless wrongs
this country is presently faced with, in private and public; Brother Ali thankfully has chosen
the latter.

Throughout Ali’s Us,
his third full length effort released on Rhymesayers, he jabs at the American system and the systemic cancer of racism that in Ali's terms are a continued enslavement of its own people. Those familiar with Ali
will find his delivery as cool and melodic as ever, aligned properly
with his message of hope, his vision of inclusive Islam, and the importance of racial equality. With
regards to production, Ali chose to stick with Rhymesayers legendary
Anthony Davis, (a.k.a. Ant), who produced Ali’s sophomore album The
Undisputed Truth, a truly “i
f it ain't broke don’t fix it” scenario. The crispy kicks and snares of Undisputed Truth
are back for an encore, accompanied this time by a plethora of live
instrumentation and a choir of women and children that tastefully open
and close the album.
