Providence, RI's Cool World has made a deal with the devil. If it wasn't obvious from their densely packed, heavily scuzzed jams that the trio has an element of the twisted already born and raised within them, the contribution of their newest video for the track "Big Pockets" will finally be proof enough. The song is a quick beat that plays frantically underneath swirled-out vocals spinning quickly and dizzily while the camera moves from shot to shot. We see the band running through Providence with money beyond their wildest dreams, and spending it on free tea samples and noodles, which seem like worthwhile investments all around. Wait till the end when we get a visit from Lucifer, whose mannerisms include constant teeth-licking and eye-bulging. But the devil's in the details, am i right?
Cool World released their latest EP, Big Pockets / Circular Car / Mini Mart, to their Bandcamp today (as in today-today), so you can pick that up here. Devilish signatories need not apply.
The trio has two shows coming up in July. Catch them slinging sludge at these spots:
July 8th – Machines With Magnets, Pawtucket, RI w/ Dead Mellotron, Tapestries
July 26th – Big Snow Buffalo Lodge, Brooklyn, NY w/ Jerry Paper
