Debut: Bad Weather California, “Let It Shine”

Most will assume it's quaint-living or downright barren in the desert lands between Colorado and Utah, but Bad Weather California are the disrupt to assumptions. These robo-tripping punk weirdos write songs that are beyond fried, more on the charred side. There's a dry heat to "Let It Shine". Most bands might let a few glistening rays in, something flowery, but Bad Weather California are a sun-poisoned ache cured with a pitcher of lean.

Even when the band infuses a bit of call-n-response, cheer rock, they immediately muck up the pep ralley with a torrential breakdown that errupts into a psyche-defied jam. For the dude who downed a bottle of 'tussin in the "Let It Shine" video, that means shredding it up even harder through the wasteland streets. His face just reads stoned oblivion, even without the mirror effects.

Bad Weather California recently signed to Akron/Family label, Family Tree Records, and released its second full length, Sunkissed.

See them on tour with Broncho, The Lovely Bad Things, and The Lumineers.
