Keeping in line with the deep nihilistic imagery of their new record, Holographic Violence, the newest video from Seattle’s garage-gone-goths Grave Babies explores the tense dynamics and potential violence of street harassment without becoming exploitative. “Metal Me” is a heavy track that glitters with broken-glass synth stabs. It’s just perfectly over the top, owing a good amount to the big production of’90s club goth (and industrial, in the synth and percussion); together with the video imagery it becomes a truly cinematic soundtrack to everyday horror.
Holographic Violence is available now on Hardly Art.
