Hieroglyphic Being & J.I.T.U. Ahn-Sahm-Buhl, “F**k The Ghetto / Think About Outer Space”

Jamal Moss is here to interrupt the regularly scheduled programming. He is the Hieroglyphic Being, a Chicago producer and DJ that utilizes an arsenal of synths and drum machines to transmit intergalactic messages to the infinite spirit of Sun Ra. Alongside the J.I.T.U. Ahn-Sahm-Buhl, the Hieroglyphic Being has discovered the common ground between the Last Poets and hardware techno. The result is his B.I.B.L.E., aka basic instructions before leaving earth.

On “F**k The Ghetto/ Think About Outer Space”, the ensemble consists of Shahzad Ismaily on percussion, Moss on electronic drums and synth, and the poetry of Rafael Sanchez. The track invokes Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth’s “Ghettos of the Mind”, which is in lineage with Bama the Village Poet’s eponymous track from 1974. Bama speaks of the symphony of nothingness with “while looking at nothingness I heard the silence, but I heard it and understood it also. It too was beautiful.” Forty years later Hieroglyphic Being and his Ahn-Sahm-Buhl have formed a symphony of the future to broadcast to the outer nothingness. In their cyber-symphonic machinations “F**k The Ghetto / Think About Outer Space” suggests its time to move past the faulty equation that oppresses the masses. It is Hieroglyphic Being’s most instructional form of expansion to be delivered to the free thinkers of tomorrow and in doing so offers universal plan for unplugging from a psychological prison.

Hieroglyphic Being & J.I.T.U. Ahn-Sahm-Buhl’s We Are Not The First is out now on RVNG.Intl.
