King Dude's “Jesus in the Courtyard” is a dark, no frills American folk-song with a chorus drenched in reverb. The track is a new single from King Dude’s upcoming album Burning Daylight.
The narrative features a disorienting array of black and white scenes of an un-phased King Dude drinking and playing darts and what appears to be murdering but then resolves in the presentation of the reunited full band. Mostly, however, it’s an aesthetic backdrop, a loose narrative that gains most of its darkness from King Dude’s devilishly low vocal register waxing and waning throughout the mix.
Burning Daylight is out October 16 on Dais.
