New York’s Alright: The Last Year

Post Author: Kate Bennis

Few events in New York City can boast a legacy of fireworks, blood, and nudity at the caliber of DIY punk and hardcore fest New York’s Alright. 2015 marked the third and final installment of the fest, according to organizer Adam Whites, who, along with Dan Oestreich and their friends Reed Dunlea, Marc Grillo and Mike Hillerson have brought preeminent punk and hardcore acts from all over the world to the stages of The Acheron, Le Poisson Rouge and many others in the New York metro area. Our video editor Kate Bennis was there to document it all, and sat down with the festival organizers to find out why this year marks the end of New York’s Alright. Check out footage from this year’s line up and watch as Whites and Oestreich recall some of the most memorable moments—broken bones, slime and all.
