And so begins the season of Summer-themed music videos. Among those coming most correct are Chicago garage rockers Twin Peaks and their video for “Flavor”. The song is from their upcoming album Wild Onion, which is due August 5 on Grand Jury, and as the pool party video suggests, it’s a burner. Full of crunchy guitars, shout-along choruses of “flavor your heart and your soul,” and even a well-placed acoustic guitar interlude, “Flavor” is the perfect song for sipping tropical drinks, applying sunscreen, or just about any other summer-y thing you’re thinking of doing.
In the video, Twin Peaks and FIDLAR’s Brandon Schwartzel are rocking out in their sweet pool (which actually happens to be in the backyard of Marilyn Manson's former Hollywood home) and are shocked to discover that they’re out of beer. One beer run and a few joints later, their van runs off a cliff and, through masterful use of cinematic trickery, back into the pool, where they again discover that they’re out of beer, like some kind of sophomoric version of Groundhog Day. It’s goofy and lighthearted and a great song to get down to, which you can in person at one of their upcoming tour dates:
