In a similar vein to Sofia Coppola's Somewhere, the video for When Saints Go Machine's "System of Unlimited Love" is a study in malaise and excess that only serves to depress, not satisfy. When a group of strippers in pasties do a coordinated dance to the melancholic song, there appears to be beauty in the routine that can also be interpreted existentially. Are we supposed to enjoy the standardization of sex practices? It's hard to tell, but the commentary is mesmerizing as it pulses along with the vibrant, glittery song.
