In Wise Blood's rarely illuminating bio, there's a shortly touched-on moment where it's noted his time off was due in part to his "pursuing 'schemes' that caught him up in some legal trouble." Though it's never mentioned what those schemes were, in the video for "Rat", we see Christopher Laufman doing some low-level hoodrat activities. In the followup to "Rat", we've got the video for the standout "Alarm", where more illicit activity is undertaken but with a conclusion that doesn't quite satisfy. The unsettling mood of the video matches the tone of the song and, cliche though it may be, it leaves us wanting more.
