Octopus Project checked in last week with an uncharacteristically organic sing-along pop tune… borrowed from the Bee Gees. Part “Kumbaya” by the campfire, part Matt and Kim chorus, but very few parts recognizable Octopus Project. (Did they dub themselves indietronica on their Wikipedia page?) While this may be a small WTF? on the radar of their dependable road map towards better experiments in fusing electronic bleeps with dance-happy rock drums and non-acoustic guitars, it's reportedly a “gift to fans” and will come as a track on an upcoming holdover-EP until their next full length release, slated for fall. (Also: Where's the Theremin at?)
