Not that his music was dirty before, but the two songs on Philip Seymour Hoffman's first vinyl pressing, a 12-inch called Semi-Marxist Like Us are scrubbed clean, first with soap and water than with a toothbrush, then with sandpaper, a file, acid, then a special pH-balanced bath of atom-scrubbing Mr. Clean so that every double hydrogen and oxygen molecule is humming at its proper speed and the whole thing zooms out to an unadulterated cycle of agua pura.
Coming through stronger than ever before, too, are his earnest, some might even say emotive vocals and spot-on harmonies and double-tracks, that he lets cleverly fall apart at only one point in the recordings. They bode well for a future wooing the hearts of girl nations worldwide, not to mention a career melting the semi-Marxist will of bros who've buried their vocals in secluded fields far from town.
The 12-inch also includes remixes from Truman Peyote and Easy Boy on the flipside.
