We love the Silent Barn. We so love and missed them that we wanted to join their co-op of goodness and move the Impose offices into their new frontier before we landed in Papa John's attic. But now that they're back on their feet—and only a few blocks from us—we can start celebrating in the glow of what will undoubtedly be an array of awesome artwork, shows and recordings.
With the help of the community and a well-deserved Kickstarter campaign, the fine folks at the Barn have ensured they will be in Brooklyn for at least the next decade, possibly longer. Though there have been rumblings for the past few months, yesterday it became official: The Silent Barn has signed a ten-year lease with an extension option on a beautiful, massive property in Bushwick on Bushwick. 603 Bushwick to be specific. The whopping 10,000 square feet and three floors will be used for studios, artists, residents, and of course shows. And the best part? It's 100% legally occupiable. So you can finally tell those kind NYPD officers, “you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.”
Congrats to all involved. Here's hoping this give us many more opportunities to catch classic shots like these from the old Barn. Onward and upward!
