For nearly fifteen years, Ladyfest has been a driving force in exposing all-girl bands to the uninformed masses. Founded in Olympia, home of K Records, in 2000, the construct has been that female bands play, workshops be held, and a greater understanding of women in music is reached. Since its inception, the fest has branched on to be held in cities across the world, everywhere from Toulouse to Atlanta to Mèrida, Mexico. This year, the biggest and most exciting showing of Ladyfest will be held in Philadelphia from June 7 to 9.
Ladyfest Philly announced their lineup and workshop schedule this week and we couldn't be more excited for what is around the bend. Tickets (sales of which benefit Women In Transition and SAFE Home) and a detailed schedule are still to come, but this announcement is enough to tide us over until then.
