Indianapolis’ Sparrow Sleeps – comprised of Casey Cole and Peter Lockhart – is one of the music incredibly delightful music projects we have stumbled upon in a very long time. (Yes, those words did just appear in front of you.) Casey started the project by creating lullabies for his newborn daughter Sparrow some time ago, releasing them on the internet to a cult crowd. In 2014 Sparrow Sleeps was officially born.
But these lullabies – as you can tell by “Sharing is Cool” below – are not your typical, high-pitched, annoyingly-catchy songs. They’re punk inspired, featuring some of the most notable musicians of that genre in the industry. “Sharing is Cool”, for example, features Joe Taylor of Knuckle Puck and Dan Lambton of Real Friends. Its upbeat nature brings us back to the early days of our punk fixation, weaving in an intricate narrative of what “sharing means.”
We can’t wait to nab the entire collection to share with our future miniatures.
The first collection of songs geared toward children ages 3-5 – Sparrow and Friends Start a Band! – is out October 21st. It is available for preorder now.
