Catalog

Introducing the cool world of Catalog; press photo courtesy of the band.

Introducing the new Italian band Catalog who are releasing their first album on cassette through La Barberia Records later this fall & we have a first look & listen to the single/video for “Happy OK” courtesy of director Antoantialdo. Exploring fields of grain, desolate valleys, abandoned courtyards, empty pools & more become a playground for Catalog who are seen embracing the dog days of summer by making the most of their local surroundings. A group based out of the city Reggio Emilia located in northern Italy via the Emilia-Romagna region; the group offers up an impromptu tour of their stomping grounds amid a blaze of snarled & gnarled guitar tones that remained muzzled by a hypnotic melodic approach.
Catalog’s Antoantialdo video for “Happy OK” focuses on the band moving from the indoor confines of their homes to taking in the sunny outdoors that surround them. Featuring a blend of vintage animation & classic arcade game style effects; Catalog’s sound is seen traveling from house, to hotel, from villages, to pastures & those special & secret places in-between that few to noone (even locals) know about. Catalog provides one of the best songs for the latter days of summer where the sweltering feeling of being beneath the sweaty sun can be heard in the sparse sustains of each struck chord that are complimented by the Catalog’s own gorgeous harmonies. “Happy OK” is a PSA for us all to explore our own respective surroundings, while listening to music that is either Catalog, or similar to Catalog’s subtle style where the group takes their time to let each individual note/chord resonate & reverberate with the listener.

Catalog offered up the following introduction to their upcoming debut album:
“Happy OK” is a glimpse of our first studio record, out this fall for La Barberia Records. Our sound is both rough and smooth, there’s silky indie rock over some electronic drops and loud drums. We call it new wave for cool kids. How cool is that?

Look for Catalog’s album debut available later this fall from La Barberia Records.
