The Brazen Youth – “I Don’t Wanna Take Too Much”

Connecticut dark-folk outfit are ready for their forthcoming EP release

Dark-Folk isn’t exactly the genre you’d imagine being performed by three young Connecticuters. Friends for much of their lives, the trio’s sound is a rich balance that speaks volumes for their abilities as natural songwriters, and carries a maturity in both sound and lyricism that extends far beyond their years. Taken from their forthcoming EP, I Don’t Wanna Take Too Much lives up to the bands apt name, a bold foray into their new chapter, still performing with the adolescent eagerness to prove themselves.

“15 Billion Eyes” felt like a humbler approach to a record, and we think the title, “I Don’t Wanna Take Too Much”, speaks to that. In the studio, we stripped back, dropped the metronome, and pursued a live approach. We are each finding our own corners in the band, especially as instrumentalists. Time spent on the road has moulded our individual styles and band dynamic — and for the first time, we’re seeing that manifest in a studio setting.
