Emma Cole is not afraid to acknowledge the truth of the matter. Her music is spunky, saying with confidence what we wish we could admit. Currently residing in Los Angeles’ Echo Park, Cole takes a page from the books of Etta James, Janis Joplin, and Al Green. She fuses her nostalgia for artists of the past with a young and vibrant attitude.
With her latest single, “He Will,” Cole brings her strong 60s influence full circle. In just a little over three minutes, Emma Cole quickly envelops us in her velvety vocals. The track is upbeat, something Uma Thurman and John Travolta could have easily been sock hopping to. Cole’s voice is shiny and resilient, a perfect example of sheer woman power. On “He Will,” Cole is accompanied by jumpy guitars and motivated drums, the mixture creating a dancefloor ready track. Even if you’re unsure of how to groove to it, Cole is far from it– she sounds incredibly sure of the results to come.
Emma had quite a bit to say about the track herself.
“He Will” is a song about remembering your worth and choosing to stand in your power. Essentially a good friend of mine, Honey Larochelle vocal produced the backgrounds for ‘He Will‘ and the day of recording background vocals her Mother who is a legendary singer just so happened to be in town. CC Larochelle, she’s toured singing with the likes of Marvin Gaye, Little Richard, Roberta Flack and more. Well you know Miss CC joined us in the studio and we sang 3 part harmonies into 2 microphones for a stereo track. That day definitely goes down as a top highlight moment for me from the making of this record.
