L.A. psych rock titans unleash explosive new single off upcoming LP Data Doom

Los Angeles garage-psych titans Frankie and the Witch Fingers are back and prepping a new album, Data Doom, for release on September 1 via The Reverberation Appreciation Society and Greenway Records. They have already dropped a pair of new singles for our ears – “Mild Davis” and “Futurephobic” – and today they’ve unleashed another explosive new single in “Empire.”

“Empire” is a climactic epic clocking in at almost seven-and-a-half minutes, and not a single second of that runtime is wasted. The track opens on a swirl of crunching guitars and pounding drums, followed by pulsating rhythms and noodling riffage simmering alongside singer-guitarist Dylan Sizemore’s hypnotic vocals. The second half of the track leaps to prog-y territory as the sonic layers swell and escalate, culminating in a heavy instrumental crescendo that reaches stratospheric heights.

The track’s music video – directed by Kevin Fermini – features classic Frankie and the Witch Fingers imagery: trippy, amorphous animation of monsters, demons and other creatures flashing across the screen in ominous, eye-popping ways.
