Great Western Plain, “Thom”

Michael Giordano

As large and open as their name implies, Great Western Plain’s recent full-length, Elastic Smile features expansive and winding jams like their twelve-minute opening track, “Thom.” While twelve minutes may seem a bit drawn out for groove oriented lo-fi garage rock, Great Western Plain makes sure every minute is purposeful, showing off their Kraut-rock roots. Between unchanging bass grooves, fuzzed out, slightly off-time guitar lines and raw vocal hooks, it'll be hard not to lose yourself somewhere along the way during this twelve minute epic.

“Thom” is off of their LP Elastic Smile, out now.
