Future's “Honest” won me over when “Turn On The Lights” did not, if I'm being honest. When Ryan Hemsworth remixed “Honest” as part of his Ryan Pack Vol.1 collection I instantly preferred it to the original and thus began a chain of events in which Future mattered less and less to his song. That domino effect has brought a Hellfyre Club remix into our lives that bares such unbridled honesty, it makes Future seem like he's telling tall tales of alleged bitches kissing on bitches.
With Riley Lake on the production, the Hellfyre Club version of “Honest” features Nocando admitting he's not actually heard the source material, but it seems he gets the gist when he auto-tunes his vocals to sing “saying how I feel, fucked almost each and every deal being honest”. Open Mike Eagle makes two heavily autotuned appearances to break the agreements of non-disclosure contracts, admitting he and Stanley Kubrick faked the moon landing and that he ghostwrote for Magoo – the latter of which feels like learning the Easter Bunny is fake. Busdriver and milo also join the posse cut, which hopefully means this remix will make it into the crew set on the Hellfyre Club tour in February. milo's verse is heavily inspired by his bookshelf, while Busdriver's honest confessions includes a self-awareness that rhyming smart has never done him much favors.
