Nothing, “Bent Nail”

Dayna Evans

nothing

While another favorite of ours has utilized the title “Bent Nail”, it's clear they are in good company. Philadelphia's Nothing, who are often painted as a much darker act than they actually are, released the second single from their forthcoming record this week, and its light no-wave shoegaze is anything but threatening. It's clear that the fourpiece has deep roots in hardcore, what with the culminating double bass-drum toward the song's close, but the lush sweetness of Domenic Palermo's vocals prove that there is a heartfelt side to Nothing that their name does not give away.
