JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound

Last we heard of JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound, the band's soul power brought Impose vet John Bohannon out of retirement to praise its cover of Wilco's “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart”. JC and The Sound are back with a 7″ that teaches all the lost lovers out there just how foolish it is to love someone that's out to break your heart.

“To Love Someone” has JC Brooks crooning in a Smokey-esque falsetto that will melt your troubled heart. It's a change of pace for The Uptown Sound, but the b-side “Everything WIll Be Fine” is the assurance that The Sound still got the stomp for your boots. The vintage vibes heard here are not culled from digital trickery. The 7″ was recorded using pre-1965 gear, giving it that special warmth that keeps it out of the dreaded “neo-soul” genre.

The “To Love Someone” 7″ is out now on Addenda Records.
