Florida boys Ben Saylor and Peter Kokkinakos, known as the plastic flamingo state’s latest surf-garage-grunge duo, Jensen Serf Company, plunge their beachy tunes into basement push-arounds in their new single, “Better Man.” “Better Man” starts with a fried, vibrating guitar melting into a slow-motioned surf that suddenly crashes onto shore with a wild fury. Effusing an early Ty Segall roughness and echoed, repeated vocals, “Better Man” sings of trying to be one with a double-dose of frustration and good intention, all in a quick flash.
“Better Man” is now available on the band’s Electric Sister 7” via Manimal’s new subsidiary, Loose Recordings.
