K-Holes' self-titled debut on HoZac last year sat in the fine company of Thee Oh Sees' Carrion Crawler/The Dream and Total Abuse's Prison Sweat as my Top 3 Loudest Played Records of 2011 – a list I just declared official. The Brooklyn dirge specialists have jumped over to Hardly Art for their sophmore record, Dismania. The band is in break-neck speed mode out the gates with “Rats”. Lead K-Hole Jack Hines might as well be rabid and foaming at the mouth, staggering down the sidewalk and scaring patio restaurant patrons with his wild rants of rats.
“Rats” is a cut throat jam. While it lacks the catchiness of “Werewolve With A Tan” (yes, we're still smitten), it's jacked up enough to not need humor or howls to rank high on our barometer of bitchin'.
K-Holes' Dismania is out May 1 on Hardly Art.
