Krill, “Fresh Pond”

Krill often gets boxed in under misguided labels like “slacker” or “laid-back” but the categorizations are mostly miguided. Krill's skills (if you'll allow the rhyme) are thoroughly grounded not in their lacking, but in how effortless they make it all seem. With their latest track, the second single from their forthcoming Steve Hears Pile in Malden and Bursts into Tears EP, Krill is at their best—the slow singing, the anxious pleading, the track's denouement and breakdown, that feel as heavy as a twitchy, nervous inner monologue, one that ends in more of that thoughtful guitar-and-drum jamming partnership.

You can stream “Fresh Pond” below and then preorder Steve Hears Pile in Malden and Bursts Into Tears through Exploding In Sound Records, out on February 18.
