On a recent mini-tour with Fiasco, we came across a one man-attack I had never even conceived as a possibility. Gull, a.k.a. Nathaniel Rappole (and also a member of Ultra Dolphins), plays drums and taps guitar while singing through a delayed-out vocal mic hooked up inside his creepy paper-mache mask, simultaneously. This could be an exercise in cute, noise wankery, but Rappole is a machine, and his rootsy attack (that recalls an amped version of the Neil Young soundtrack from Jarmusch's Dead Man) is as precise as it it entrancing.
