Emerging Icelandic artist soars on new ’80s-tinged single

Kicking off his 2022 in style, the rising Icelandic musician Máni Orrason delivers an infectious new track that finds him leaning towards glitchy indie-pop and the luminescent rock sound of the ’80s. Exploring the romanticizing of icons and rockstars, “Coffin” features Máni’s rich and soothing vocal tone weaving in and out over a vibrant and upbeat backdrop of lush synths and punchy drum samples. “Coffin” is the latest offering in Máni’s impressive catalogue, and one that finds no place for genres and sonic boundaries.

Heavily influenced by the great Lou Reed, Máni shared, “I love the romance of the rockstar. When I was getting into music, I was obsessed with these larger-than-life, untouchable figures; they showed me that you can do whatever and be whoever.”
