It's very sad to me that in the national hip hop arena, Texas rap has recently sagged in relevance and popularity. Slim Thug's new album came and went with little impact, ABN released a great record but they didn't get the shine they deserved, and then earlier this week, Paul Wall put out an album that no one even knows exists. Also, have you noticed that everyone, including most Texas artists, hate Mike Jones? I know he wasn't the most talented dude in the game, but lord, he gets nothing but bad looks.
Despite this national (and local?) neglect of the south's most vital music, DJ Chuck T is still fighting the good fight and bringing us Deep in the Heart of Texas 5 to remind everyone of how how great all these rappers and producers are.
