MTV unveiled their 'O' Awards last week. We weren't nominated in the Best Indie Music blog category. It's really no surprise to us. After all, some of the blogs that were nominated are part of the same network as Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian, so we're pretty sure they're confused as to what independent means. And although we tend to lurk in the shadows with a few hundred thousand other people, we wanted to celebrate our inadequacy in MTV's eyes. But how?
We asked ourselves, what would it take to get nominated in the old-school MTV days? Then it hit us: Payola! But we don't have the type of cash it takes to buy advertising from them, and we're not on the major label that is owned by the same parent company, so who could we bribe?
Why, you, of course.
Here's what we're proposing: If you vote for us via write in and we win, we will donate $1,000.00 to the charity of your choice*. $1,000.00 might not sound like a lot, but that's like $10,000.00 in Impose money.
But wait, there's more! We will extend payola fever to the pages of Impose. If any label or band matches our offer, we will gush over their music and include it in our best of the month picks. If any other blog or website matches our donation, we will accept the award in your honor. And lastly, if we win, we will record a video of every Impose employee giving their best 'O' face. (Of course you want that.)
But this is only possible if you write us in and vote. If you believe in payola; if you think a new awards show that nominates the same people as other awards shows need some help; if you like to be charitable, then you'll vote for Impose.
*Charity to be determined via a poll we will create when we win.
