San Francisco post-punkers Weekend have toured tirelessly in support of November's Slumberland debut Sports. Bent on not living out its song titles, the band is fighting the coma summer with an EP in September. We won't hold a grudge, but we're a little peeved the Red EP is not named after a Huey Lewis & The News album. Maybe for the LP, guys?
“Hazel” is our first glimpse into the Red EP and it has less of a post-punk edge, more of a pop wall of sound pastiche that's most prevalent in the sweetie-pie chorus that finds tenderness in an eye color not recognized by DMVs in all 50 states. Luckily for Weekend, California is down with hazel.
We've got the tracklisting for the EP and yes, we're super-stoked on the possibility of the next LP resuming the Huey Lewis homage, since the final song is called “Golfers”.
Red EP tracklisting:
01 Sweet Sixteen
02 Hazel
03 Your Own Nothing
04 The One You Want
05 Golfers
The Red EP is out September 20 on Slumberland.
