If a random passerby were to come into our office and ask, “Hey Impose, which two Baltimore acts would you most like to see combine members for a new project?” You can be pretty sure the unanimous answer would be a dynamic duo featuring members from Double Dagger and Future Islands. I guess we’re all in luck because Will Cashon of Future Islands and Bruce Willen of Double Dagger have come together to form a new endeavor called Peals. Yesterday, the gentlemen had the good graces to premiere “Blue Elvis,” the first track from their upcoming debut on Thrill Jockey, slated to release in May. Titled Walking Field, this first song sounds like the soundtrack to doing exactly that. It’s a dreamy landscape of whimsical guitars and an echoed pitter-patter beat that’s certainly a departure from both dudes’ prior gigs.
Peals will be hitting the road for a series of intimate Northeast dates for the majority of March. Along the way, they’ll get support from fellow Thrill Jockey Dan Friel and Bmore band Romantic States. Listen to “Blue Elvis” below.
