Earlier this year we asked,“Who are Super Chron Flight Bros?” With the impressive Indonesia already out this year, SCFB ain't slowing down for nobody as they prepare to release the Deleted Scenes mixtape.
The good people of Backwoodz Studioz sent over an exclusive SCFB remix to “La Da” by in-house producer BOND. If you checked out Indonesia, which is now available for free download, you'll recall the original “La Da.” This version has a slow burn. The blues riffs drift in a haze between the snare whip cracks. Somehow BOND sneaks in a “Paradise City” bridge into the ether without disrupting the vibe.
Billy Woodz is my sleeper pick for MC of the year. His verse has a Ghostface around Supreme Clientele-era moxie that has him making sense of nonsense syntax. He raps, “I just won the Super Bowl / and truthfully, I'm going home to fuck my girl / she already got the spliff twirled / a progressive woman who fancy a necklace of pearls/ Milton Berle / hit the studio smoked out / cave in your world.”
The Deleted Scenes mixtape is a prelude to Cape Verde, which is the official
follow-up to SCFB's 2007 debut Emergency Powers. The mixtape is full
of brand new Super Chron tracks, remixes and unreleased exclusives,
none of which will be on Cape Verde. Production is handled by Willie Green, BOND, Marmaduke, Essex Dogs, AM Breakups and
Arcsin. The mixtape features guest appearances by Cannibal Ox, Invizzibl Men, Trife da God and more.
