The Running Man dance move seemed only appropriate for cheesy fleeting 80’s dance hits—the bass, snare, bass, snare drumbeat, pumping you along like Richard Simmons screaming ‘1 and 2 and 1 and 2,’ coupled with huge airy synth pads never really fell out of style, but we're all afraid to admit it. That’s why Philadelphia-based Adam Granduciel, better known by his project name The War On Drugs, has found a way to take those elements and mix them in with his own style of ambient folk-rock in his new single “Red Eyes.” Refining and perfecting his sound since his last release in 2011, while avoiding the abrasive pitfalls of extreme genre-blending, TWOD gives us a high energy dance tune bursting at the seams with a sense of clarity and humble musicianship that we can surely expect more of on his forthcoming album, Lost In The Dream.
Lost In The Dream is out Martch 18 via Secretly Canadian. TWOD has a North American tour starting the day of the album release, dates for which are listed below.
