TOBACCO, “Heart and Soul” (T’Pau cover)

Tobacco heart and soul

Chances are you know the title “Heart and Soul” from childhood piano lessons or from watching the movie Big. But in the late ’80s, a British group by the name T’Pau tried to reclaim the title for pop music. While the single achieved nominal success, chances are you’re more familiar with the 1938 classic. TOBACCO wants to change that. As with any of the Black Moth Super Rainbow mastermind’s creations, his cover of T’Pau’s song is a slow-burner of creepy proportions. TOBACCO transforms the glampop to his signature space-age production before allowing the song to slowly descend into the madness it so rightfully deserves. We would love to see this version played at FAO Schwarz #RIP :(.
