Treasure Hunt, “Smooth Eureka”

Dayna Evans

treasure

When Archimedes exclaimed “Eureka!” this might not be what he had in mind. Moon Glyph's latest release, a freeform jazz project filed under Treasure Hunt, maybe takes its title track from the exclamation, and coyly tries to smooth it out, but almost nothing about this single feels smooth or exclamatory. A revelation, yes—it is unpredictable and flowy, not tethered to any one genre or outlet, and as it moves and shifts among experimental sound and chaos, it feels as organic and expressive as an original thought. So, perhaps after all, it does have some eureka-en qualities.
