When you wake up free of the shackles of 2009 on January 1, remember one
thing: Dos by Wooden Shjips was one of the three best records of the
previous 365 days.
This San Fran band of psych gods is
heading over to the fair hamlet where I live to play what will undoubtedly be the most epic Halloween weekend in the history of
New York City.
Friday, October 30: The Shjips take over Tribeca along with Silver Summit and Effi
Briest, playing selections from the most crucial
pagan-suspense-murder-mystery ever: The Wicker Man. The film plays,
then the bands will all take turns interpreting songs that originally
sounded something like Incredible String Band, and do whatever they
please with their selections. At 92Y/Tribeca, 200 Hudson Street.
Saturday, October 31: Sacred Bones present a Brooklyn blow starring our above mentioned Bay Areas
heavyweights along with Vivian Girls, Crystal Stilts, and Religious
Knives. At 171 Lombardy Street at Varick Ave.
Citizens of New York City, don't be fucking stupid. Go to both
of these show. If you don't some really spooky shit like in Halloween
3 will happen to you.
