At the forefront of Teklife’s younger guard, Earl’s one of the wonkier ones, which is evident from the sneak peek we got when he teased “Vox” last month.
It’s hard to imagine how footwork can get even feistier, but somehow Afrika‘s done it. Chock full of chop-and-screwed percussion, bass-y heaves and mile-a-minute percussion, it’s a twisted, futuristic vision of Earl’s Africa. Best of all are the moments that spotlight intense, see-saw synths layered over drill-like drums, which just help to emphasize the dizzyingly high BPM and head-spinning snares that dot the entire release. Definitely one of the best Teklife head-turners to emerge this year.
