Estonia's widely intriguing singer/producer Maria Minerva has just announced a new record, Histrionic, coming out next month on the LA-based label Not Not Fun. Following a big 2012 move—London > Brooklyn—Minerva took some time settling in before releasing anything new. And though the wait has been long, it certainly will have been worth it if the new single “The Beginning” is any indication. The track's warped melody smoothly envelops Minerva's nonchalant voice, woven into an effects-laden texture we could see Portishead playing with. There's no doubt she keeps her roots close, but the influence of a new environment bodes well for the album.
