Simon Hanes says he’s quitting Guerilla Toss to start an EDM project

In an e-mail sent to us from Simon Hanes of Boston avante-gardist game changers, Guerilla Toss, we’ve been told of the sad news that the nudist-enthusiast bass man has quit his post in the band. Signalling a motion to pursue EDM with a subsequent move to Switzerland, Hanes wrote:

I wanted to inform you that I have decided to quit Guerilla Toss and move to Zurich, Switzerland — ostensibly because I need a change in my life, but also so I can follow my passion, electronic dance music. It has been a very difficult decision for me to make, but I know that it’s for the best. I was starting to feel trapped in Boston. I don’t know how long I’ll be gone for, but it will be no less than a year. The split was amicable with almost everyone in the band, although Peter (the drummer) and I haven’t really been talking much, mostly due to previous disagreements. I’ll be leaving in early September.

Simon’s apparent departure from the Boston scene will not go unnoticed, as he has penned unique and insightful observations of the lesser-sung underground DIY local communities that have embraced the eccentric and erratic fun of Guerilla Toss. Follow all of our coverage of the band here.

UPDATE:

Simon Hanes sent us a ‘demo’ sample of his solo electro-minimalist project, with the beat-pad and keypad fun of, “Josh Grobayn”.
