Fresh on the heels of returning from his three-day MtyMx festival in Monterrey, Todd Patrick returned to Brooklyn with a lot to think about. His phone had been ringing “nearly nonstop” for the past week, with “people he'd never met” throwing diverse employment offers at his feet.
The Borgata Hotel, Bellagio, The Mirage, and Blue Man Group are a handful of the venues and productions Patrick found himself considering as new homes and employers. “It was a pain in the ass just to turn my phone on,” he explained. “The entire gambling community thought they could buy me.”
The choice, in the end, wasn't hard. “Foxwoods Casinos was a no brainer for me. It's in Connecticut, so it's close to home, and I can keep doing what I love, throwing no-bullshit diy shows on the side, while I pursue these new opportunities. Also, nearby to the resort is the excellent Pequot Museum, which does a great job of explaining the history of the indigenous Native American populations.”
His booking involvement begins May 1 with a performance by Rupert Holmes at Foxwood's MGM Grand 4,000-seat venue. Future engagements include “The Yes Experience” (not featuring Rick Wakeman), and the Saturday Night Live veterans tour featuring Victoria Jackson, Joe Piscopo, and Father Guido Sarducci.
