Xiu Xiu anounce new permanent touring member while Jamie S goes solo tour?

It's hard to say what it means to officially “add” an instrumentalist to a band that has used said bassist for many recordings, even writing songs based on his ideas (i.e. “The Wig Master“), not to mention when founder and ring leader Jamie Stewart still goes on solo tours (will it be under the band's moniker?). That being said, it's extremely exciting to anticipate their live show re-imagined with jazz bassist Devin Hoff in place of the synthesized programming Stewart, Caralee McElroy and Ches Smith rely on to fill the low end gap.

The live enhancements come in the wake of a recent 7″ collaboration with Texas-based minimalist W.S. Burns on Stickfigure Records, while plans for the bands next LP continue to surface, including hints that it will feature collaboration with Larsen and Paranthetical Girls. Also, the press release verifies guest spots from Michael Gira, John Dieterich, and Howard Wiley.
