Premiere: No Swoon Unveils Cancelled Tour the Zine + “Otherside (Demo)”

Like all of us here on Planet Earth (and especially in the U.S.) the COVID-19 pandemic has altered all best-laid plans. That certainly applies to people working in the live performance space with some industry executives predicting that venues will be dark until 2022.

Sadness aside, one of those entities effected is the Brooklyn-based dream-pop duo No Swoon who we heard from last Fall around the release of their debut, self-titled LP. With a full tour centered around SXSW completely tanked by COVID, No Swoon found themselves with a ton of cancellations and as much time on their hands.

With that, the band returned to writing both new music and a Zine highlighting talented people in the full sphere of music work. Today, No Swoon is premiering a demo for a track called “Otherside” along with the release of “Cancelled Tour the Zine” which is set to raise funds for NIVA (National Independent Venue Association).

The “Otherside” tease from No Swoon offers an exciting snapshot of the band working into their next phase as searing guitars and Tasha Abbott’s ethereal vocals mix wonderfully.

“We were really bummed when our tour got cancelled (due to Covid-19),” the band shares. “Mostly because we lost the ability to meet and hang with musicians/music lovers across the country, see what they do, be inspired by their work, and learn about their city. We also realized so many folks in our community were impacted in the same way, with cancelled shows, tours, and festivals. We might not be meeting and spending time with them in person, but we still wanted the chance to collaborate! To that end, we decided to put together a digital zine of all the people we missed out spending time with on tour.”
