On Saturday, March 22nd, Gramercy Theatre hosted a sold out performance from Freddie Gibbs and Madlib celebrating the release of Piñata, their collaborative album. Performing that evening were Peter Rosenberg who showed off his Just Blaze inspired 45 collection (including an original J Dee “Donuts” 7″ he found at his mom's house) before doing impromptu hosting duties, 360 who got the crowd going fairly quickly, Ransom and Statik Selektah (their joint album The Proposal was released last year), Madlib who did double duty by performing a brief DJ set before Freddie Gibbs took to the stage to roaring applause.

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib played Piñata track by track and then did a brief detour to play 2011's “Rob Me a Nigga.” Freddie returned to the stage to perform two encores, one of which was an a capella version of “Thuggin'” that Madlib used his microphone to bang out the beat.

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib gave an highly energetic performance to a sold-out crowd.
