Nicholas Sanborn is part of a duo you may have heard of called Sylvan Esso. He’s also created music solo under a new project called Made of Oak and released an EP called Penumbra on Partisan Records earlier this month. Touring in support of the EP, Made of Oak booked a penultimate date at Washington, DC’s DC9 on Wednesday, November 18 and met up with photographer Max Sall before his performance. Max captured Nick’s time before the show which included soundcheck, taking a few portraits, hanging out at DC9’s bar, plus his live, headlining set later that evening for this gallery.
